Man Date.

My life has been consumed with work, video projects, house stuff, and dogs. I can't remember the last time I went on a trip somewhere.

This past Wednesday, Nick (a fellow co-worker) and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to San Francisco. Over the last few weeks I've been talking to Nick about the world of vinyl toys. He sounded interested, so we decided to make the trip up to Kidrobot on Haight Street in SF. This way he could see firsthand what all the hype was about.



We got to San Francisco just in time for the store opening. Walking into Kidrobot is like walking into a toy museum with hundreds and hundreds of different characters and figures on display. The stuff in there is always changing, so it's cool to see what new stuff is on the market. We both ended up splurging a little bit, but all in all we made out pretty good. For Nick's first visit, he pulled some pretty rare figures. Congrats to him.







After toy shopping, we headed over to Light Waves to get my girlfriend's 120 film developed for her. Because medium format is so rarely used in today's ever growing digital world, it's hard to find a place that still develops these outdated formats. The only catch was that the roll of film still had two more exposures on it. This meant Nick and I had to get a little artsy fartsy and shoot some photos.

Also, for those that don't know, this camera (Mamiya RB67) is a beast. The camera is probably the size of my head. The preperation leading up to the photo is probably the most strenouus part. With film, every picture you're paying for, so it really makes you stop and think.

After we dropped the film off for developing, we just walked around downtown SF. First, we checked out the SF Apple store. Woah. That place is nuts. After working at a small store like Oakridge, I can't imagine how crazy the SF store must get. Next we headed to CB2 (modern furniture store) to check out their collections. Nick just moved into a new place and I'm moving next month, so furniture is definitely something we both need right now. After meandering around a little while longer, we decided to head back in order to beat the traffic.

Our last stop on the way home was IKEA. Mostly because we were both hungry and wanted to find a cheap place to eat. Nick also ended up getting a few things for his apartment. So that concluded our outing. It was definitely a much needed break away from work. Hopefully we'll be able to do it again in the very near future.

Creative.

I always thought I was a creative individual, but now Apple has decided to officially call me a Creative.

I'm stoked! Since I started at Apple 6 months ago, I knew Creative was my goal. Getting this position in such a short amount of time is awesome, and really rare (as I've been told). With the new job comes a lot of new responsibilities, but honestly I'm ready. I haven't officially started yet, but I will assume my duties in a couple of days. Words cannot express how excited I am. :D

BOKEHLICIOUS!

In college, I always put "Bokeh Pictures" before all my films. At the time, it was just a fake production company. Fast forward a few years and now it's an official LLC (Limited Liabilities Company). A few friends and I are still trying to make this production company thing happen. So far we've been getting a few jobs here and there. Nothing too crazy, but it seems like work is quickly picking up. Can't wait to see what 2012 brings for Bokeh Pictures...

Coco and Lily are getting along... finally! Coco will still put Lily in her place, but they love playing together.

Jenny and I have been talking about getting another pug for awhile now. The only thing holding us back was the fact that her mom was allergic. But now that we should be out in less than two months, her mom gave us the okay. Plus, it'll be much easier potty training a new pup having direct access to an enclosed back yard.

So without further adieu, meet Lily, our 8 week old female black pug.



Jenny, Coco, and I made the trek out to Stockton yesterday to check out the pug puppies I saw online. The seller had two males and one female. Right away I could tell the little lady had the cutest features of the three. Not to mention she was more submissive than her two boisterous brothers. After a few minutes with female puppy, we knew she was the right one.

The entire drive home felt unreal. Both Jenny and I had perpetual smiles on our faces. I could tell Coco was getting a bit jealous, so we kept switching laps between Coco and the new puppy. The new puppy, which we decided to begin calling "Lily," was asleep the entire car ride. It's funny how a brief ten minute interaction can exert a puppy so much, that they need to immediately take an hour long nap to recuperate.



I'm looking forward to training a new puppy all over again (minus all the stains and sleepless nights of couse). The best past is now Coco has a friend to play with when Jenny and I are at work.

Being the videographer/videographer that I am, I felt a need to document. So just like with Coco, I made a short video capturing Lily's first day in her new home.

Certified.

After about a month and a half of racking my brains, I am now iWork certified. I passed with an 83.33% and the cutoff was 80%. I squeezed by on that one. A pass is a pass though. Wooooooo!

New Chapter.

Today marks a new chapter...

When I woke up this morning, I had no idea the day was going to pan out the way it did. All I knew was that at 1pm, I was going to meet with the Plant 51 sales rep to put in an offer on our second choice loft unit. The brick loft I posted about a few weeks back was unfortunately snatched away from us by another buyer. Jenny and I had the option to proceed with our second choice unit or continue to keep looking for places. We decided that we weren't going to find any place like the lofts at Plant 51, so I told the sales rep I was ready to purchase.



So, today when I went to the sales office, the rep divulged some new information. The person who reserved the brick loft never followed through with the paper work. This meant that starting that day, unit 2131 (the one Jenny and I loved) was back on the market. In the back of my head, I was thinking "April Fools, right?" Nope. Just lucky timing.

Jenny and I were at a standstill. We didn't know what to do. The brick loft was a bit more money, but it was our first choice to begin with. The only way to make a final decision was to do a final walkthrough. It was one of those moments where when you walk through the door, it just feels right. It was meant to be.



A few hours and 200+ documents later we had put our offer in. We were able to agree to a 55 day escrow, which meant that we would have close to two months to save up for furniture and such. As awesome as today was, nothing is guaranteed. We are not out of the woods quite yet. Our purchase is contingent on us getting financing. Based on what the mortgage broker said, we should be just fine, but nothing is for sure. So until then, fingers crossed.

If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.
